Playing The Oregon Trail will allow you to be one of among these professions such as Banker with $1600, Carpenter with $800 and 2x points or Farmer with $400 and 3x points
All you have to do is try to select banker for the first time
If you are a banker, you can start with such luxuries items including 9 yoke or 18 oxen, 2000 pounds of food, 20 sets of clothes and 3 of each spare part
As a banker you can just buy more food at the forts along the way and try to replenish your supplies early and often.
Note that you will have to leave too early than too late as if you do leave too early you can burn time at the cost of resources.
However if you leave too late, you will have to face winter.
If you want to go hunting, or to travel at a slow pace often just try to leave in May and otherwise leave in June.
As a farmer if you want top points you will need something more like these stuff
3 yoke and 6 oxen
No food or you can get it by hunting first as it will save your money for having food
15 sets of clothes
20 boxes of bullets
2 of each spare part
Tips to be rich as a farmer in the oregon trail game
Just set your pace to “grueling” and your food consumption to “bare bones” before leaving Independence.
Remember to hit Return before you actually move after leaving independence.
Go for hunting till getting 2000 pounds of food as this is the maximum your wagon can carry.
Note that when hunting, do not bother shooting rabbits as they will not be worth the price in points.
After having 2000 pounds of food, keep going at grueling or bare bones until your health starts to really suffer.
If you shoot a buffalo or a bear do not try to fire another bullet as you have enough food.
If you shoot two deer you will never carry more than 100 pounds of food back to the wagon.
If you waste too many bullets, they will add up and subtract from your score.
Always check the water level if you are in the Kansas River Crossing.
If the water level is 2.5 feet deep or less you will be safe to ford the river.
And you can either float the wagon or take a ferry.
Remember that if anything goes wrong when floating the wagon you can just reset the game. And you can go with the ferry but it will deduct a point from your final score that will be two points for carpenter, three points for farmer, as $5.00 is one point.
When reaching Big Blue River Crossing, you cannot take a ferry. And you have to ford, float, or wait for conditions to improve. Just try to ford when the water level is 2.5 or less in which it will be the last good time you can ford a river safely
You can safely ignore all forts and other landmarks but you may buy supplies at a fort if something goes wrong, other than rivers which must be passed through.
Just pass by Fort Kearney and Chimney Rock.
Note that Fort Laramie is special as it will mark the point where flipping the disk to the other side.
After passing through Fort Laramie you will find bear. Just go to hunt that to get food for your supply
Now continue to Independence Rock to South Pass, in which the option of going to a fort or to a different landmark will prompt you. Note that the other landmark is preferred because the fort is out of the way, unless you really need to buy supplies.
Because of this you will continue to the different landmark that will be the Green River.
You can go to the fort if you dislike of crossing another hazardous river
Try to take a ferry in this place, and you would be wise to do so.
When reaching the Snake River, hire an Indian in order to guide you and they can accept clothes for it.
With An Indian as a guide you will pass Fort Boise, then the Blue Mountains as well.
When heading to The Dalles you will have a divided trail. Just take the river and play the easy minigame then you will arrive in Oregon soon
